[FCIX] Microsoft Connected Cache Life on FCIX

Howdy Folks!

Just wanted to drop everyone a note that we have successfully deployed a
Microsoft Connected Cache appliance for FCIX inside of AS7034. This is a
CDN cache node for Microsoft assets such as Windows updates, Xbox content
(coming soon), etc.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/do/mcc-isp-overview

I am feeding it the FCIX service cone as all routes AS7034 learns from FCIX
with the following exceptions:
1. Hurricane Electric, because that's just too many IP addresses for this
service.
2. Any routes tagged with the community no-export
3. Any routes tagged with the community 7034:8001.

This means that your network is included by default, and you only need to
do something if you want to explicitly opt out of this service (just like
the Google Global Cache we host)

Out of the gate, we're seeing 500Mbps-3Gbps of traffic from it, so there's
a few of you who are benefiting from this. The cache is running on a Dell
R220 with 2x2TB of SSDs and a 2x10Gbps port channel into the AS7034 core /
FCIX.

I'm sure plenty of you have also been noticing some issues with the FCIX
route servers as of late. This is a NAS issue inside of my network, so I am
working on migrating the FCIX VMs onto their own hardware as quickly as
owning a new house and new puppy are allowing these days.
